Since someone has left a comment (thanks Dave) I wanted to add an update. The RG is pretty well finished but further testing is required before entering its first race, hence this season the focus is now the ACU 250 National Championship (please see main site for updates). However, the RG will still be developed and it’s first appearance is planned for the weekend 23/24 July at Brands Indy racing in BEMSEE’s Powerbike class.

Further info will be put up in due course…..

July 09 Updates:

Just a quick overview of what ABSracing is currently doing.  No racing for 2009 as the R1 has been sold and the TZ is now in storage.  However an exciting project started at the beginning of this year and along the lines of a passion for many years (Microprose GP500) in 2010 ABSracing is planning on racing a GP500 bike for real at club level.

The basis of the bike is a 1985 Suzuki RG500 but it’s no ordinary road going version.  The bike has been built up from a standard (for time being) frame, tank and radiator.  All other bits have been sourced during Feb-Jul 09.  There are two phases to the project and currently Phase 1 is nearly ready for testing.  It consists of the initial build and focusses on getting the bike to handle in a league with modern race bikes.  The current spec:

1985 RG500 frame with modified subframe; GSXR K8 radial front end with Brembo master cylinder and braided hoses; GSXR K5 rear end and Ohlins shock absorber, standard RG500 engine with carb mounted filters and Swarbrick race pipes; TYGA RGV250 fairing and 04 Honda RS250 seat unit;

The PICS section has now been resurrected after a problem with spamming resulted in technical problems.  All the descriptions and details are not there yet but the most important items are: the pictures!  Enjoy the racing action from absracing over the years and hopefully in the near future there will more pictures of interest with regards to absracing’s latest project.

This blog should form the news section of the absracing website.  Hopefully by changing this section into a blog it will be kept more up to date, including posts from Alex himself.
